After their relaxed pre-wedding photos at Lotherton Hall a couple of weeks ago, it was all systems go for Kerry and Craig’s big day. Before the formalities kicked off I spent some time with Kerry and her bridesmaid, Zoe, while they prepared. I got some lovely natural photos of Kerry in her Justin Alexander dress, Nine West shoes and Jenny Packham headpiece. Her remarkable bouquet was made entirely of brooches from Kerry and Craig’s parents and grandparents – one of the many unique details which helped to make the day truly special.

Then it was time to brave the York Saturday traffic to get to the registry office where the wedding took place. There was time to photograph the groom and the expectant wedding guests while they awaited Kerry’s arrival, and to capture the bride’s smiles and laughter as she made her way down the aisle. It was a very touching, personal ceremony, and was followed by a short walk to the museum gardens for some more photos.

The reception was held at the York Pavilion, where the tree in the courtyard had been decorated with photographs from the couple’s past, from their grandparents’ weddings right up to the present. It was a real talking point and totally in keeping with this family-centred wedding. There was a lot of eating, drinking, chatting and laughing, and a superb ‘cheese cake’ made by Kerry’s brother, aka “Frog in a Sock”, who had flown all the way from Australia for the wedding! Another highlight was a bottle of whisky bought by Kerry’s granddad whilst on a cruise in 1981. He had laid it down with the instructions that it be given to his first granddaughter to get married. Kerry has since been told to label it for her own granddaughter – bad news for her dad, who’s been dying to drink it for the past twenty-odd years!
