It turns out that most people had a similar reaction to me when they learned about Matt and Padma’s wedding. “November? That’ll be lovely! What? This year?! But that’s in a couple of months!”

It was 10 weeks in total from announcing their engagement at the back end of September to getting married at the end of November. That’s to organise everything. And no, I’m not entirely sure how they did it either. There were 3 ceremonies – the legal part, the Catholic blessing and the Hindu ceremony. There was a banquet fit for a hungry king. There was proper dancing. And, even though we were nudging into December, we had gorgeous light! All set in the beautiful surroundings of Gate Street Barn in Surrey.

So many little moments make this wedding special – from the candles setting off the fire alarm during the Catholic blessing (with the priest remarking “You must all be people of faith, because none of you moved”), through to the revelation about Padma’s Terence Trent D’Arby crush (plus the arrival of Oleg – the new addition to the family). It just goes to show that it is the people that make a wedding special. And that you can put together a fantastic celebration in 10 weeks.

Such a wonderful celebration, it really was a pleasure to be part of it. I also got to meet and work with the exceptionally talented Ines and Greg from Vis-a-video.
