I first met baby Theo and his parents at Avery’s birthday party in Kensington, and I was thrilled when they asked me to photograph Theo’s christening. Theo had had his first birthday the week before, so there was double the reason to celebrate! The day began with the christening ceremony, which was held at the beautiful St Luke’s church in Chelsea, London. St Luke’s is a historic church with some superb gothic revival architecture; it made for stunning backdrop to the photos, and the children really enjoyed exploring!
After the service we took a short walk along London’s famous King’s Road to another beautiful building, dell’ Arancio, a local Italian restaurant. This was where Theo’s birthday party took place, and it had everything any self-respecting one-year-old could ask for – including balloons and cake! I was able to take some informal, natural photos while family and friends enjoyed the party. There was a lovely relaxed atmosphere and all-in-all it was a really special day for Theo and his family.
I should also mention Theo’s fantastic Noah’s Ark birthday cake, an impressive design which featured all sorts of animals; the kids loved creating some interesting head transplants as the party went on!
